Additional Books
Older students who are ready will be required to purchase these two practice books to be kept at home: The first is the “Hanon” series, which is a set of exercises designed to build dexterity, agility and strength in the fingers. The second is “Sight Reading and Harmony,” designed to teach musical literacy. Both will be expected to be part of the student's daily home practice. The investment for these books combined is around $60. Students will be able to work out of them for many years. Finger Builders is another great series I recommend.

Helpful Accessories and Tools
Practicing musicians will use metronomes their whole lives, so I always recommend a high quality super-mini, which I use in the studio. Page holders and sticky bookmarks are also useful in keeping books open during practice and keeping track of progress.
